CT Bucket List: Bridgewater Chocolate in Brookfield

As Valentine’s Day quickly approaches you may be considering chocolate as a gift so why not shop local?

BROOKFIELD, Conn. — Bridgewater Chocolates has been in Brookfield for 25 years, and in those years, they've grown quite the reputation.

"They're the best," said Kelly Burns, who has been working with the company for 13 years.

The chocolates created here are a combination of different flavors from across the globe!

"I came to the United States noticing how much people love chocolate in this country," said Erik Landegren, one of the owners of Bridgewater Chocolates. "But I also noticed that it was very different from how I grew up in Europe."

Landegren then used his European roots to create a style of chocolate unique from what we're used to in America.

"I saw an opportunity to combine the [flavors]," said Landegren. "So we make what I call American style chocolate but with some of the European traditions in terms of how we make it and what ingredients we use."

The result makes these chocolates a fan favorite.

So whether you're looking for a gift or maybe just a sweet splurge, Bridgewater Chocolates has something for everyone.

"It's fun to make a chocolate that appeals to all ages, and all types of people," said  Landegren. "It's not overly fancy, but it's very high quality."

If you want to stop by, you'll find Bridgewater Chocolates has both a factory and boutique located in Brookfield.
