CT Bucket List: Farmington River Tubing

The team at Farmington River Tubing is welcoming guests back for another season afloat.

NEW HARTFORD, Conn. — The FOX61 Summer Bucket List tour headed for the water this morning as FOX61's Keith McGilvery and Margaux Farrell headed to Farmington River Tubing.

The team at Farmington River Tubing is welcoming guests back for another season afloat.

“You can go with a big group of people, you can go with a small group, no matter what it is always fun,” said Farmington River Tubing employee, Jana Sanden.

“It is hot and the river is cold, and if you really need to, you just stick your feet in and you have a good time,” said employee, Madison Harraden.

The family-owned business in New Hartford makes safety a number one priority, making sure your 1-2 hour trip is a success with the right gear.

“Make sure you grab the right tube, you don’t want to grab a tube that is too small, you want to grab a tube that is just right and it will be the best experience,” explained Sanden.

“Be safe, know how to swim before going in the water, wear a life jacket pay attention to the rules, listen to the safety instructions,” said owner, Jeremy Harraden.

A day on the water will cost you $25 a person and it’s cash-only. The good news is you can make as many runs as you like! However, you are encouraged to leave your phone behind.

“I always say hold on tightly to handles because sometimes the water takes you wherever. But if you hold onto your handles, you should be fine,” said Sanden.

“A person who looks at my phone every 10 minutes or every 5 minutes, and people do that every day, you don’t need your phone here, it is just you and the water,” said Harraden.
