HARTFORD - With gas prices at a five-year low, the Automobile Club of America predicts that more New Englanders will hit the roads this weekend for the Fourth of July holiday.
And many of them will leave Thursday. AAA said 2.1 million people in New England are traveling and of that 1 million of them will drive.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Connecticut in 2014 was $3.98, while today the average is $2.95. Experts said the low gas prices will stick around for the summer too.
Fourty-two million Americans will travel nationwide and 85 percent of them will drive. Expect busy roads, beaches and campsites this weekend.
