MERIDEN, Conn. — Three New Haven County men were taken into custody and face gun-related charges, according to a release from the Meriden Police Department.

Around 11:28 p.m. on Friday, Meriden police were dispatched to the area of 236 Grove St. in response to a report of a fight involving at least one firearm, police said, noting that Meriden dispatchers had received multiple calls reporting the fight, including a description of the man that allegedly dropped a firearm.

When officers arrived on scene, two men were observed outside of a vehicle, and as more officers arrived, the two men, and another male, got into the vehicle, police said. When police contacted the three men, they admitted to a verbal dispute and said they were trying to calm down the driver before police arrived, according to police.

Police said they identified the men involved as James Kyle Hill and Ernest Harold of Hamden and Jeremiah Galesky Perkins of Waterbury. According to police, Hill had an active arrest warrant for failing to register as a sex offender and he was taken into custody first.

Police said that the other men were then told to exit the vehicle for a weapons pat down, and officers noticed that one of the occupants of the vehicle matched the description of the man with the firearm who was initially reported.

Police said all three men were convicted felons with previous narcotics and firearms charges; all three were placed under arrested and transported to Meriden police headquarters without an incident.
