NEW YORK — A Ridgefield woman died Sunday in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 84 in New York, the state's police department said.
According to New York State Police, troopers from the town of Brewster, N.Y. began investigating a crash involving a wrong-way driver that happened on the eastbound side of I-84 in Southeast, N.Y.
Based on preliminary information, NYSP said they determined that a woman, identified as Alexandra R. Quinn, 30, of Ridgefield, was driving a 2023 Subaru Cross Trek, going west -- in the eastbound lanes.
The Subaru hit a 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer head-on, according to NYSP.
Troopers who were sent to the crash found Quinn, who had died at the scene. NYSP said the driver of the tractor-trailer had no injuries.
The cause of the crash and what time of day it happened was not made immediately available.
