One seriously injured in single car crash in Bozrah

BOZRAH, Conn. — Two people were injured, one seriously, Sunday afternoon when a car crashed on Route 163. Police are looking for witnesses or video of the crash for their investigation. 

State police said shortly before 4 p.m., a 2012 Mazda3 was heading south on Bozrah Street. Just beyond the intersection of Bozrah Street and Bishop Road, the car went off of the north side of the road and hit two mail boxes in front of 111 Bozrah Street.

Continuing south while in the southbound roadside near the intersection of Bozrah Street and Bishop Road, the Mazda then hit two utility poles, state police said.

The car then went back to the to the northbound shoulder where it struck a guardrail. It traveled across both lanes, then hit a southbound roadside embankment where it came to a stop. Two cars parked in a nearby driveway were struck by debris from the Mazda and sustained minor damage, according to state police.

The passenger was ejected from the Mazda and sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Backus Hospital via ambulance and then to Hartford Hospital via Life Star. 

The driver had minor injuries and was taken to Backus Hospital via ambulance.
