HARTFORD, Conn — A judge has sentenced a Cheshire man to 27 years in prison for the murder of his wife in 2019.
Emanuel Dominguez-VillaGomez, 35, of Cheshire, pleaded guilty late last year to Murder and Risk of Injury to Child charges.
According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Monica Dominguez, Emanuel's wife, died of sharp force trauma to the neck, head, and torso.
Monica Dominguez died of her injuries at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, but the victim was able to speak with police shortly after being stabbed roughly two dozen times.
Police said the 11-year-old son of the victim told them that he witnessed his stepfather choking his mother as this nightmare unfolded.
Prosecutors said Dominguez-VillaGomez attacked his wife with a knife, stabbing her several times in their Cheshire home on September 11, 2019.
Cheshire Police responded to a 911 call from the home and entered as the attack was happening where they located the defendant, the victim and two minor children within the home.
