GLASTONBURY, Conn. — A person is dead after a Glastonbury house fire Sunday morning, according to the town's Fire Chief Michael Thurz.

The fire department responded at 2:23 a.m. to a residence on Neipsic Road after receiving a report from a police officer in the area about a well-involved fire, Thurz said.

Crews who arrived on scene attempted to search the inside of the building but were forced out due to a heavy amount of fire and high heat conditions, according to Thurz.

Thurz said 35 firefighters were needed to bring the fire under control.

A person who was initially unaccounted for was later found dead inside the home, Thurz said. Officials have not identified the person at this time.

The Glastonbury Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosive Investigation Unit. Fire departments from the towns of Bolton and Colchester also assisted with the fire.
