Overnight crash on Silas Deane Highway leaves 2 injured: Wethersfield police

Two people were taken to an area hospital for treatment; one of them had life-threatening injuries, police said.

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — Two people were sent to the hospital after a crash involving an SUV and a garbage truck on the Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield overnight Saturday, according to police.

Police were called to 1130 Silas Deane Highway around 2:41 a.m.

Officers found an SUV had hit a garbage truck, police said. The SUV driver was trapped and the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department had to extricate them.

Silas Deane Highway was closed for about four hours before it opened back up for traffic on Saturday.
