HARTFORD, Conn. — A tractor-trailer truck struck an unoccupied Connecticut State Police cruiser near exit 50 on I-84 shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The truck jack-knifed and caused some other fender-benders that closed down the eastbound lanes and forced traffic to detour off at Exit 48.
The trooper was out of the car investigating another accident when the cruiser was struck.
Troop H in Hartford says no serious injuries were reported. The road reopened shortly before 8 p.m.
