EAST HAVEN, Conn. — Police said two shoplifting suspects tried to escape police and rammed several police cruisers Wednesday in East Haven.

At 11:28 a.m. officials said officers were called to Snipes at 684 Foxon Road for the report of a shoplifting. Police broadcast a description of the vehicle the suspects were driving.

Responding officers saw the suspect vehicle pulled onto the shoulder of Bradley Street by Bellman Street.

Three other officers arrived on scene and attempted a motor vehicle stop.

The driver of the suspect vehicle immediately reversed, slamming into a cruiser. Two other officers boxed the vehicle but the driver continued ramming cruisers attempting to flee. The two occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.
