SOUTHBURY, Conn. — The search is on for a Chief of Police in Southbury. The job listing says the town is seeking the right candidate to lead the local police force.
Currently, the town is part of the Connecticut State Police Resident Trooper Program, through Troop-A. Dozens of towns across Connecticut have at least one Resident Trooper.
Residents got the chance to vote last November on whether to establish a police department independent of the Resident Trooper Program and hire a Chief of Police.
The town is looking for a candidate who advocates for community-oriented policing, can lead and grow the police department, and takes on the challenge of recruiting and maintaining a full staff of officers.

The town aims to hire the Chief of Police sometime this summer, according to the Board of Selectmen meeting minutes for March 21.
