NORWALK–The family of a Norwalk cab driver who was stabbed to death late Sunday night says they will work with police to find his killer.

Just after midnight, Norwalk police say they received two 911 calls reporting a crash of a taxi cab into a parked SUV on Grove Street in South Norwalk. Jackson Pierre-Louis, 51, of Bridgeport, made one of those 911 calls. He called to say he had been stabbed. He was pronounced dead at 1:05 a.m. at Norwalk Hospital.

Police are asking anyone who rode in a dark blue minivan taxi cab Sunday night in Norwalk to please be in contact with them. They stress any information can be provided anonymously.

Monday afternoon several of Mr. Pierre-Louis’ family members traveled from his home city of Bridgeport to pay their respects at the site of the accident, where they set up a memorial.

His 18-year-old daughter, Claire, vowed she would find her father’s killer. Meanwhile, the youngest of four children, Jayson, must now celebrate his 10th birthday, which is Wednesday, without his father.

Wiping tears from his eyes, the young boy says some of his most memorable times spent with his father were riding in his cab. He recalls talking with his father about school and sports. And he says sometimes they would get pizza before going home.

Cab drivers who were friends with Pierre-Louis–who drove for Norwalk Yellow Cab–say they are now afraid for their own safety. Several said there need to be partitions between the driver and passengers. One driver even suggested an emergency call button be installed in cabs to alert police.
