CHESHIRE – A raccoon that attacked two dogs Sunday has tested positive for rabies.
The dogs were in their own yard when they were attacked. One dog was current on its rabies vaccination according to police on Tuesday. It will be placed in strict home confinement for 45 days and receive a rabies booster shot.
The other dog was not up to date on its vaccination and will be quarantined for 180 days as required by state law.
The incident happened on Jarvis Street.
Police reminded pet owners to make sure their animals are up to date on all their vaccinations.
