UPDATE: Police have confirmed that the operator of one of the motorcycles, Carlos Dejesus, 29, died.
At approximately 7:42 p.m. the accident was reported, and a police investigation found that the two motorcycles were traveling westbound on Foxon Road. The two motorcycles ran into a vehicle driving eastbound on the road. It is possible another car was involved in the accident.
The operator of the second motorcycle, Michael Gatavaski, 29, was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries, and the driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old male, was also transported to the hospital with injuries.
UPDATE: Although there is still no confirmation from police, we have further details from witnesses at the scene.
The two motorcycles collided with a car near a curve and both were ejected off their motorcycles. One motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. East Haven police shut down a portion of Route 80 for over 4 hours while an accident reconstruction team investigated the scene.
Witnesses said the motorcyclists were driving extremely fast and that the car they hit had slowed down and attempted to avoid them.

Route 80 in East Haven, also known as Foxon Boulevard, was closed in both directions at Route 100 (River Road) after what police said was a major accident Friday evening.
Police said the crash was reported at about 7:45 p.m.
Though police have yet to confirm details, neighbors tell Fox CT that the crash involved two motorcyclists and an SUV, and one motorcyclist was killed.
Route 80 remained closed for four hours.
Also, a driver of another vehicle went through a police roadblock and is being charged with DUI.
