Woman found dead in Vernon mobile home fire identified

VERNON, Conn. — A woman died after a fire that took place at a trailer park in Vernon Sunday morning, officials said.

The town's fire department said they arrived at Middle Terrace, along with police and EMS, after receiving multiple 911 calls at 2:43 a.m. about a mobile home on fire.

The mobile home was destroyed after being found fully involved in flames, according to the town's police and fire departments. Multiple neighboring homes were also damaged as a result of the fire.

61-year-old Teresa Garnett was found dead in a search of the home, the police department said. 

No one else was injured as a result of the fire.

Garnett's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, according to the fire department.

The Fire Marshal's Office and State Police Fire and Explosions Unit also responded and are investigating alongside the town police department.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
