17-year-old seriously injured after being hit by car in Mansfield: State police

The driver of the car was not injured and remained at the scene to assist in the investigation, state police said.

MANSFIELD, Conn. — A teen was seriously injured after being hit by a car while crossing the road in Mansfield Friday morning, according to Connecticut State Police.

Troopers from State Police Troop C were dispatched at 11:50 a.m. to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian on Storrs Road. 

A 17-year-old was was found with a serious injury and taken to Hartford Hospital via Mansfield Ambulance, state police said. The driver of the Ford Fusion SE AWD that hit the teen was not injured and remained at the scene to assist in the investigators.

Based on a preliminary investigation, troopers determined that the teen was crossing the roadway while the Ford was going south along Storrs Road, prior to the collision. The cause and factors that led to the crash are unknown at this time.

The condition of the teen Saturday was not made immediately available.
