First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to visit Meriden next week

It is unclear what the First Lady is doing in Connecticut but her office said more information will follow.

MERIDEN, Conn. — First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will be coming to Meriden on March 3, her office announced on Thursday.

It will be her first trip to Connecticut since becoming the first lady.

Meriden Mayor Kevin Scarpati said in a statement Friday that he is "thrilled" to welcome and host the first lady.

"We are honored in welcoming Dr. Biden into our diverse and inclusive community," he said. "We look forward to her visit.

Details of Biden's trip to Connecticut were not immediately clear.
