HARTFORD, Conn — How hot is it?
Extremely hot -- August heat is hitting Connecticut this week after one of the rainiest July's in history. Temperatures have been in the nineties Wednesday and Thursday and it felt even hotter.
On a scorching day like Thursday, with a heat advisory in place, people didn't want to waste time outside talking about the heat and humidity.
When asked 'how hot is it?' Wethersfield resident Tanitra Rodgers replied, "Oh my god, it's so hot!"
"It’s so hot you feel like you should stay inside and not go out here," Rodgers said.
It was so hot, the outside tables at Parkville Market were empty. Inside, where there's free AC, it was packed with people.

"This is Connecticut, and we have few sunny days, so the hotter the better," Rodgers said.
The humidity only adds to the oppressive heat.
Dorrie Nang of Woodstock guessed that the temperature outside was 93 degrees. Even that was too low.
The strategy for Connecticut residents today: find shade, find relief. Ice cream and smoothies are a favorite.
For a few people, the hot weather isn't so bad -- but that's as long as you put it in perspective.
"I'm taking advantage," Madeline Torres of Hartford said. "Because the cold will be here before you know it."
Before autumn cools us down, safely enjoy the sunshine, whether it's from outside the windows or behind them.
