Firefighters rescue driver trapped in car after crash in South Windsor

While firefighters called the extrication "challenging," they were able to rescue the driver in about 18 minutes.

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. — A driver had to be rescued from a car that crashed into a tree in South Windsor on Friday night, according to local firefighters.

The South Windsor Fire Department was called to Nevers Road just after 9 p.m. for a report of a crash.

Arriving crews found two cars that went off the road and into trees.

Firefighters rescued one of the drivers who was trapped in the vehicle. While firefighters called the extrication "challenging," they were able to rescue the driver in about 18 minutes.

The condition of the rescued driver and others involved is not known at this time.

South Windsor police and Ambulance Service of Manchester both responded to the scene, according to fire officials.

Nevers Road reopened to traffic at about 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Details on what led up to the crash were not immediately made available.
