COLCHESTER, Conn. — One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting Thursday evening in Colchester, officials said.

The shooting had temporarily closed part of Norwich Avenue (Route 616) into Friday morning.

According to officials, just before 6:20 p.m., Colchester officers were called to a home on Norwich Avenue on the report of a disturbance.

When they got to the scene, officers made contact with an "individual," according to officials. At one point during the response, a Colchester officer fired his duty weapon at the individual, injuring the suspect.

State police did not say what led up to the shooting.
