WILLINGTON, Conn — A Willington man is accused of hazing a UConn fraternity recruit by choking and abusing them during the spring semester.

David Vallejo, 23, was arrested Friday, state police said.

The victim reported the incidents to state police, saying that during two days of fraternity initiation in February, they were brought to a home on Tolland Turnpike in Willington.

The students there lined up "military-style" and "Pledge Masters" told them to repeat what they were told, according to the arrest warrant.

On both nights, the victim was forced to do push-ups while reciting the "code" and Vallejo threw the victim across the room whenever they got tired, according to the arrest warrant.

Vallejo got "very angry and was yelling directly at me," the victim told investigators.

At one point, Vallejo pushed the victim against the wall and choked the victim, the arrest warrant states.

The victim dropped out of the fraternity, and Vallejo once again assaulted the victim when they returned their uniform to him a month later, according to the arrest warrant.

The victim also filed a report with UConn's campus police department, the arrest warrant states.

Investigators tried several times to reach Vallejo by phone.

Vallejo was charged with disorderly conduct, assault, strangulation and unlawful restraint. He was released on a $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 21.

Police did not name which fraternity Vallejo was representing.
