Man found dead after reported argument, shots fired in New Haven: Police

It was reported that an argument occurred and gunfire was heard in the area of the incident, police said.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest Saturday evening in New Haven, police said.

Officers arrived at the intersection of Cedar and Cassius streets around 8:35 p.m., where they found 26-year-old Tyrese Blue Jr. who was unresponsive, police said. The fire department and a medical crew also responded and made several attempts to provide aid to Blue before he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that a crime scene was set up and that detectives from the Major Crimes Unit and the Bureau of Identification responded to gather evidence, speak to witnesses, and look for surveillance footage. Ballistic evidence was found at the scene.

It was reported that an argument had occurred and gunfire was heard in the area of the incident, police said.
